OUR PRESIDENT & FOUNDER

I started Stitched Together to allow children and adults an opportunity to learn how to heal themselves and others through the life skill of sewing. Learning the stitches needed to put limbs and features onto a little bear inspires children to create, concentrate, and engage their empathy by choosing the charity or cause to which their finished bears will be donated.

My hope is to one day become a pediatrician who uses both the art and science of medicine. The desire to be involved in the healing process years before I enter medical school is what inspired me to found Stitched Together. Thank you to all my organization's partners: Reading Partners, YWCA Silicon Valley, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, Awaso Academy in Ghana, Cesar Chavez Elementary School, Lowell Elementary School, St. Catherine of Alexandria School & Parish, and Notre Dame High School who have helped me broaden the reach of Stitched Together, now serving a community of about 542,000 nationally.

Changing Lives One Stitch At A Time

OUR STORY

Mission: To teach children and adults to use their innate empathy, artistry, and power to affect healing in others, one stitch at a time.

Sewing combines artistic vision with passionate efforts to join, fasten, and repair fabric to make unique creations. When fabric is stitched together to create lovable, one-of-a-kind stuffed animals, adults and children become empowered healers and advocates of kindness in their communities. The simple act of sewing provides comfort to children of  domestic violence and poverty, while inspiring a passion for artistic learning. Therefore, students involved in Stitched Together learn empathy while participating in the healing process for those in need.

By hosting workshops, holding regular chapter meetings, and partnering with nonprofit organizations, Stitched Together creates a little happiness and healing every day through compassion and artistry.
